hey scum, anyone interested in some bulk bearings?
I've been looking at the vxb site in the states and they'll do 100 sets of deep groove, abec 7, double rubber shielded, nylon caged bearings for AU$500 including shipping. rated to 40 000rpm.
I've got a coupla sets of this particular bearing off ebay to run in my longboards and I can't really fault them. maybe they'd respond differently in a ramp/bowl set-up, but I can't see why. The ones in my work commuter have been run in the rain constantly, thru puddles, sand, you name it and they're still quick and smooth rolling.(tho I have taken 'em apart and cleaned em once or twice.)
I'd pull out my rock'n'rons and put in a set of these to do a comparison on my bowl board, but I can't effin skate at the moment. Maybe I can do that and give my board to crusty or rocco as they ride the same wheels I've got on.
its just a thought at this stage, but the idea of getting ten sets for $50 instead of one is strangely appealing.
worth discussing anyway i think. what say you?

I'm happy to give em a trial hotslide. Putting them in a set of stingers will give a pretty good comparison.
Even if they are a little slower they could still be useful. In my opinion I think the wheel is a greater influence on speed than the bearing so....

Btw Johnny.... When you skate fit again ? Been too long.

well, I doubt they'll be as quick as the really high end gear,
but having said that... whether the difference would be noticeable... I dunno.

$500 is a fair bit to raise for bearings, but I really like the maths!

alright crusty, I'll set 'em up for vp soon and we'll see if they're the goods.

I'm shite for skating bro. be another month at least. been far too long, it bites and sucks and blows all at the same time.

alright crew, thanks for the response.
I figure I'll go ahead and test the ones I've already got at vic pk. I've been using this set but not in a park, so just to be safe I wanna see how they roll in that sort of environment.
I reckon they'll be sweet tho.
If they come up good I'll just go ahead and get 'em and anyone who wants 10 sets or more can have em for cost. :o

mmm, lots of bearings, . . . so good, .. .. drooling emoticon here...
